Flying Squirrels and Fireworks in Richmond, VA

June 20, 2013
After a long day of travel, we made it all the way up to Richmond. This city, with its beautiful old buildings and cute little shops, was a very fun place to spend a Thursday afternoon.

We then headed out to the ballgame where we were able to connect with some alums who live in the area. We also enjoyed learning about several alums who work with the Flying Squirrels, including Todd (Parney) Parnell '88 who works as the Vice President and COO and Tom Denlinger '03, the Squirrels Assistant General Manager.

(We loved that little man's shirt!)

The Richmond Flying Squirrels play at The Diamond, which is located right outside of the city. Though the Squirrels gave the Binghamton Mets a run for their money, they lost 4-3. Despite the tough loss, the game was fun to watch and everyone seemed to have a great time! We especially enjoyed the fireworks at the end of the game and the potbelly pig mascot.
